Developing Confidence in children
When asked about the purpose of martial art, most people and even martial artist will
answer “self- defence” or something in that context.
At Revolution Taekwondo, we believe- self-defence is a by- product.
The number one purpose is to bring out and develop CONFIDENCE, SELF ESTEEM and TALENT.
Here’s why – we all met people that are talented and intelligent but low confidence. Others with little talent but high in confidence and self- esteem are very successful. We hear about successful people with very little or even no education that are millionaires, it’s because they have all the highlighted 3’s developed.
Talent can be created by expressing an interest to our mind, visualising certain goals in the chosen field and with constant practice.
Confidence and self - esteem are developed as the mind realises one’s advancement, more and more skills are developed.
Here at Revolution Taekwondo, our training is unique, we incorporate Hapkido, self-defence moves, boxing combinations as well as traditional sparring and pattern training. The complex moves constantly activate left-right brain function and stimulate the development of neuro-links. Few years of practice more so when started in younger age will find success comes quite natural in both academic and sport.
Our Blackbelts are learning Hapkido skills like Long stick, sword, Fan and various takedowns and self defense skills. Thus truly becoming mixed martial artists.

Developing Leadership
We ask higher belts students to come in front of the class. We also encourage teen-age black belts to volunteer as Assistant Instructors. This method will develop their leadership skills and overcome shyness and self-esteem.

Develop Goal-setting
The belt ranking system is an ideal to teach goal-setting, working towards and achieving bigger goals step by step. Belt upgrades develop courage and nerves to perform in front of others. On average, there is a 30% drop in performance at grading due to nerves.

Promotes world Peace
As international friendships are formed and we all learn about the cultures, we become more tolerant and accepting. Also the training leads to Self-Development and inner peace and harmony. There cannot be peace around if there is no peace within.
Finally, we would like to point out that as Taekwondo Instructors, we face one big challenge: to please the parents and make training fun for the children. Parents want discipline and learning- children want fun classes. We have to find a good middle ground. But it is most REWARDING to witness each and every child advance in skill and confidence.
